Oakdale Irrigation District (OID) is seeking dedicated and skilled professionals to help protect and develop water resources for the benefit of our community. We provide high-quality irrigation and domestic water services, serving over 80,000 acres of prime agricultural farmland in Stanislaus County and an additional 77,700 acres within our sphere of influence. OID supplies surface irrigation (raw) water to over 2,900 connections and domestic water to more than 700 customers.

Position: Distribution System Operator / Construction and Maintenance Worker
Department: Water Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $32.20 - $39.14 per hour

This position is a dual-role opportunity, operating under the Water Operations Department during the irrigation season and the Construction and Maintenance Department during the non-irrigation season.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Distribution System Operator (Irrigation Season)
- Schedule and distribute irrigation water to customers.
- Perform minor repair work on irrigation infrastructure.
- Maintain and clean irrigation canals, ditches, and related structures.
- Work a 12-hour shift, assigned to either day or night schedules, consisting of seven (7) consecutive workdays followed by seven (7) consecutive days off.
- Shift hours: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.
Construction and Maintenance Worker (Non-Irrigation Season)
- Assist in the construction, repair, and maintenance of irrigation canals, pipelines, pump lines, and structures.
- Work under an Alternative Work Schedule (AWS), which may be a 4/10 or 9/80 schedule.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: General knowledge of construction, maintenance, and repair of irrigation facilities. A farming background is preferred but not required.
- Education: Ability to read, write, and perform basic math at a level necessary for job performance.
- Licensing: Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record.
